Lunar New Year
Chinese New Year is one of the most important holidays in China, also known as Lunar New Year.Chinese new year occurs between the end of January and the end of February. Chinese new year followed by the Lunar New year. This is the time to bring family members together. This is a long term holiday of 15 days. This festival was once celebrated in honor of the gods and ancestors, but according to the geographical location and regional customs, the festival varies in different places. Each animal has its own unique characteristics. The Chinese zodiac is mainly characterized by these large animals, such as the Ox, Goat, Tiger, Rabbit, Horse, Rooster, Dragon, Snake, Monkey, Dog, Rat and Pig. The Chinese lunar year emphasizes the individual characteristics of these animals and is used in naming.
The common people of China give more priority to the family than business at this time. Every year about 2 billion Chinese citizens travel in and out of the country on this occasion. The first day of the Chinese New Year begins with the sighting of the new moon between January 21 and February 20. In this festival, the day is named after different species of animals including rabbits and dragons. Earlier this festival was started by lighting lamps but now it is started with colorful lights and fireworks. Different types of traditional food are organized as well as different types of dances and gestures are displayed in traditional clothes. Traditional clothing such as tang suit, qipao, cheongsam, hanfu, shoes etc. are worn by the Chinese these days. Many people dress up as tigers, lions or dragons and perform street dances like dragon dances, lion dances, this is their tradition. Dumplings, sweet rice balls, fish, noodles, steamed chicken, spring rolls, nian gao, fruits and vegetables are one of the traditional New Year dishes.
As around 2 Billion people travel to different places around this event, it is of special importance in the tourism sector, besides, clothing, different types of food, fireworks, decorative equipment are bought and sold, so it has a lot of economic importance. During this time, ordinary Chinese citizens like to spend time with their families, which strengthens family ties. Every country has its own traditional ceremony. Among the Chinese, it is one of their major social festivals that everyone enjoys a lot. The Chinese have a rich history and tradition, Chinese New Year is one of them.
